is the Korean word for dialogue — conversation in its fullest sense: two people speaking honestly, listening closely, and being changed by what they hear.
In therapy, that's the work. Not monologue, not diagnosis handed down, but a real exchange — with a therapist, and just as often, with yourself. The conversation running in your own mind, the one you've been avoiding or rehearsing for years, deserves the same care as any other. Daehwa Therapy is built on the belief that healing starts in dialogue, whether it's spoken aloud in a session or turned quietly inward.
Daehwa Therapy is a telehealth practice for people who want therapy that feels like a real conversation — unhurried, honest, and responsive to where you actually are, not where a manual says you should be.
Sessions draw on evidence-based approaches, but the relationship comes first: the sense of being heard clearly enough to hear yourself. Whether you're working through something specific or building a steadier relationship with your own thoughts, the aim stays the same — more clarity, less noise, and a conversation that keeps going long after the session ends.
At the core of our work together is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which shapes how I approach most of what we do. From there, I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches, including Trauma-Focused CBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Motivational Interviewing, client-centered work, and psychoeducation — combined and adjusted as the conversation itself reveals what will actually help.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed to practice in both Virginia and Louisiana, providing therapy to clients wherever they are within those states.
My path to this work has been shaped by a life of listening and learning from people. I lived in South Korea for eight years, where I traveled extensively and connected with people from all walks of life — an experience that sharpened my ability to communicate across cultures, personalities, and life experiences. As a therapist who is half Korean, I bring that lens of cultural curiosity and adaptability into every session — and it's part of why the name Daehwa, dialogue, felt like the right foundation for this practice.
Credentials and experience: I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2022. I began my career in foster care social work, where I saw firsthand how much resilience children and families carry. Since 2022, I've worked as a therapist — first at Connected Communities Inc, then at Lifebulb, and currently with Monday Courage LLC, where I continue to see clients via telehealth, alongside building Daehwa Therapy.
I work with children, teens, young adults, and couples navigating depression, anxiety, ADHD, and communication challenges, and more.
What it's like working with me: I'm empathetic, friendly, and open-minded, and I hold space without judgment. I keep things casual and approachable while staying professional — therapy should feel like a conversation with someone in your corner, not a clinical interrogation. I love watching progress unfold and believe every person already carries the strength they need to change; my job is to help you find it.
What's next: I'm expanding into group therapy, family therapy, and gaming-based therapy, along with free and low-cost resources — worksheets, YouTube videos, and a CBT-based depression & anxiety planner — so support is available beyond the therapy hour too.
